Even with punts and foul balls, there’s no way to strike out on a good time at this weekend’s Special O Softball Fundraiser.

This Saturday Sept. 7, 2024, at 1 p.m. Kamloops RCMP Detachment police officers will team up with local firefighters, Community Services, Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement, and BC Corrections officers during the third annual fundraiser at the Norbrock Stadium on McArthur Island. Gates open at noon.

Hotdogs and homeruns – the only thing making this Saturday even more amazing is knowing that it supports Special O athletes, said Constable Sofie Winkels of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Community Policing Unit.

Admission to the family-friendly ball game is by free-will donation, thanks to the support of community sponsors. Refreshment and snacks are also available for cash-only purchase.

Special Olympics BC is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities through sport. The charitable organization relies on public, corporate, and government assistance to deliver low to no cost athletic programs.
